We are back with a new article on the blog. This time, we thank Irene Bejar, our brilliant Violin Teacher at the studio, for her new collaboration for WKMT Blog.

Her articles are always a success. She talks either about violin and performance, as well as very helpful tips and advises for our music students. In this case, she talks deeply about Ergonomics. What is this? Well, It is the analysis of how the human being should adapt to the machines or technology in the proper way. Its intention is to create and develop needed tools to perfectly adapt the use of this technology by the man. With the main purpose of avoiding injuries and pains while its uses.

Following that idea, she mentions Alexander Technique, amongst other famous techniques. For all those who are not aware or familiarised with this term, it is a famous technique that helps you correcting your posture while working, playing, studying etc. Unfortunately, due to bad habits, we use to sit unproperly, walk bent, playing an instrument holding all the weight in a wrong way, so that’s why is essential to know how to do it properly and correct these bad habits step by step to avoid future injuries.

Of course, she finalises talking about the main mistakes made by the musicians when studying, rehearsing or playing an instrument. Which is a very good piece of advice for all our students. When sitting in front of the piano, holding the weight of the violin, cello or guitar, amongst many other ways we could do wrong. It is important to know the way of doing it right as well as the main consequences of not doing it properly.
